Wet and windy
Gales and heavy rain

Saturday
An unsettled day with cloud and rain affecting much of southern Scotland, northern England, the Midlands, Wales and eastern Ireland through today. Little change is expected through this afternoon with more outbreaks of rain and showers in these areas. It will be a brighter day across the southeast quarter of the UK with just a few showers here. Brighter too for northern Scotland. Severe gales across much of England and Wales, with further gales in western Ireland and western Scotland. Highs at 10 to 18C.

Saturday Night
Cloud and rain across parts of Wales, northern England and Scotland, these heavy at times. Drier across central and southern England as well as southern Wales. Some showers for Ireland, these heavy at times. It is going to be windy across southern and central England, although these winds should ease through the night. Lows at 7 to 10C.

Sunday
Low pressure is off northeast Scotland on Sunday with an occluded front passing east through Scotland and northern England. This brings some cloud and rain with it, most of it light and turning increasingly showery. A mix of sunny spells and showers across more southern western areas, as well as Ireland. One or two of the showers could be heavy, although they should be scattered. A tendency for the day to become brighter into the afternoon, and most southern and western areas will be sunny by the evening. Highs at 12 to 19C.

Monday
A ridge of high pressure building across the country through Monday, although low pressure will be just to the west of Ireland. For most of the UK the day is going to be fine and sunny, although there could be some cloud and a few spots of rain in the far southeast at first. Some cloud and showers arriving in southern and western Ireland later. Highs at 14 to 21C.
